What EXACTLY is OMBRÈ POWDER BROWS?

Powder Ombré Brows is a semi-permanent makeup technique that is applied to the eyebrows through a machine to give the illusion of fuller and perfectly shaped brows.

Unlike microblading, powder brows is less invasive to the skin and lasts longer. This technique creates a soft powdered makeup look that can be as natural or bold as you’d like. This is great for all skin types including oily and mature.

WHAT to EXPECT

STEP 1: CONSULTATION

Welcome! We will begin the appointment by having you fill out the consent forms and going over your brow goals and lifestyle. We will examine your brows and ask you about your shape and style preference. Afterwards, we will take some before photos of your current brows.

STEP 2: BROW MAPPING

The next step is brow mapping. We will custom outline one side of your brows with brow pencil based on your facial features. We will discuss the design and if we both agree, we will copy it to the other side. You will get to see the shape and approve it before we begin the treatment. We will also discuss color that best matches your natural brow hair.

STEP 3: TREATMENT TIME

Let the treatment begin! At mei aesthetics co., we only use the best tools – disposable and sterile. The appointment can take up to 4 hours so make sure to leave time in your schedule. Feel free to bring earphones and relax (or take a nap) during the treatment if you’d like.

STEP 4: AFTERCARE

Hooray! We are done and you will now get to see your beautiful new brows. We will take some aftercare photos and discuss aftercare instructions. You will be provided an aftercare bag that contains everything you need to take care of your brows for the next 7-10 days. We will also take after photos and book your touch up appointment.

PREP and AFTERCARE

In order to achieve the best results, it is best to follow the pre-care and aftercare instructions. How you prepare before and take care of your brows afterwards is just as important as the artist’s technique.

  • ONE MONTH BEFORE

    • no botox or fillers around treatment area

    • no intense facial treatments such as chemical or laser peels

    ONE WEEK BEFORE

    • no tanning or intense sun exposure

    • no retinoid products

24 HOURS BEFORE (MOST IMPORTANT TO AVOID EXCESSIVE BLEEDING)

    • no alcohol, caffeine, or energy drinks

    • no blood thinners such as aspirin, vitamin E, fish oil supplements, etc.

    • avoid working out or excessive sweating

    • you may want to fix or wash your hair before your appointment as you won’t be able to get your brows wet for a week after.

    • accutane users must wait at least 6 months after treatment to receive PMU.

  • THINGS TO AVOID

    • heavy exercise + sweating for 3-5 days.

    • saunas, steam rooms, and swimming for 10 days.

    • sleeping on your face + brows for the first 10 days.

    • using makeup on the brows for at least 10 days. (face / eye makeup may be used)

    • using products on the treated area that contain the words “Acid”, “Retin A”, “Glycol”

    • no other ointments besides the after care gel may be used for at least 7 days.

    • sunbathing and tanning beds should be avoided for 10 days.

    • no facials, chemical treatments, and microdermabrasion for at least 4 weeks.

    • do not rub, pick, or scratch the treated area. Let the dry skin naturally exfoliate off.

    • picking may cause scarring and pigment loss!

    WHAT TO EXPECT

    • DAY 2-4: The color will be a little dark. Slight swelling, thickness, and/or redness for 1-2 days may occur after treatment.

    • DAY 4-7: Brows will start to scab. Once all the scabs fall off, the color will appear very light to non existent in some cases.

    • DAY 10 / UP TO 6 WEEKS: The color will come back to its appropriate shade.

    GENERAL HEALING EXPECTATIONS

    • Please be patient. Complete healing takes about 6-8 weeks. The color will appear softer once your brows are completely healed. It is normal to lose approximately ⅓ of the color during healing process.

    • Your brows will appear about 20-25% darker and bolder than when they will be completely healed. Natural exfoliation will cause the excess pigment surrounding the eyebrow area to flake away and narrow the width of your eyebrows.

    • Don’t worry if your eyebrows are initially darker and heavier than you desire. This is part of the healing process!

    • During your touch up appointment ( between 8-12 weeks) we can add more color to the brows and adjust the shape if need be. We can also go thicker and bolder if desired.

    • Touch up is not mandatory. Some clients will love their brows after one session and touch up is not needed. It is possible to lose ALL colors and not retain anything. Some skin rejects the pigment (for no reason) but when it is introduced again in the second session it will have better retention.
